Honouring our planet and its fragile ecosystems through providing sustainable periods for everybody.

We are continually looking for ways to improve and to reduce our supply chain’s environmental footprint. We are committed to lowering our impact on the environment to help save our planet.

What we’re doing

We’re minimising our use of all non-renewable resources through continuous innovation, enhancing our process efficiency and reducing waste throughout the supply chain.

As a certified carbon-neutral company, we work with Climate Partner to offset the carbon emissions from our supply-chain, product production, office space and fulfilment of products to our customers. This includes our emissions created from making and delivering our products and our supply chain.

We are continually committed to reducing and offsetting our carbon footprint each year.

Above & Beyond

Because what you put in (and on) your body matters. Our products are made without pesticides, dyes, bleaches, and other toxic chemicals. Although less than 1% of the world’s cotton is grown organically—we use it exclusively for our tampons and pads, as well as using sustainably grown and organic bamboo. Conventional cotton is one of the world’s most polluting crops! Organic cotton uses 71% less water and 62% less energy than traditional cotton.

Subscriptions are ideally shipped once every three months to lessen the environmental impact. We are also in the process of transferring our delivery service to DPD to make use of their extensive fleet of electric vehicles.

B-Corp Pending: We are on the journey to becoming fully B-Corps accredited as we believe business should be a force for good.

Combating Climate Change

Tree planting with every order: it’s the easiest way to fight climate change, protect wildlife, and help vulnerable communities cope with the climate crisis, and we’ve planted over 22,000 trees since last year. See more about our impact here.

In 2022, our goal is to track our supply chain’s carbon emissions and find new ways to offset our environmental impact even further. There are always improvements to make, but we are always striving for better efficiency and a more responsible way to do business.

We’re using only 100% renewable energy in our offices. In 2019, we built our own operations center in a conservation area in Bristol. We used sustainable materials and upcycled furniture. We also have a plastic free policy, from using glass milk bottles to stationary we procure. While we constantly strive for efficiency, we will use our current status as a benchmark to ensure we are operating in the most responsible way possible.

B Corp Pending

In 2022, we will be joining a community of companies across 50 countries that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corp is accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Period Dignity and Grace & Green – pioneering a circular economy within the hygiene industry. Our values are those of a brand started by an environmental and social scientist with a passion for sustainability and slow living.

We take our responsibility to care for the planet incredibly seriously and we care deeply about what kind of world we’re going to leave behind for future generations. For too long, the hygiene industry has ignored its effects on the planet. Did you know that conventional sanitary pads contain up to 90% plastic? We are shocked by this statistic too, which is why we are so passionate about making a difference.

We always consider the life cycle of our products, in particular their end use, making sure that everything, from the product itself to the packaging, is either compostable, biodegradable, recyclable, or all of these.

We don’t use harsh chemicals in any of our formulas to ensure that they are kind and sensitive to your skin, and our planet! Furthermore, we like to think our products in their entirety are sustainable in the way they are used, promoting longevity within all sectors and preventing them from going to landfills unnecessarily.

Our aim is to reduce the amount of packaging that ends up in landfill each year. By eliminating packaging whenever possible, circular design thinking means we only use plastic-free packaging, paper wrapped tampons, cornstarch biodegradable purse packs for our pads, and cardboard packaging.

Wherever possible we reuse packaging and boxes for stockists, and always use kraft paper tape. Everything is fully recyclable and biodegradable and minimises packaging and waste for the customer. Grace & Green mailing packaging includes British made recycled card stock, FSC certified and environmentally-friendly ECF pulp paper labels, and recycled paper tape, all of which are 100% recyclable and biodegradable.

All the ink used on our packaging is either water or vegetable based. Postal boxes are sturdy and can easily be reused and wherever possible postal packaging received from suppliers is reused. When shipping, products are protected only with recycled papers and boxes are sealed with paper tape. We don’t use any plastic, bubble wrap or fillers.

Waste & Raw Materials

Great care is taken when sourcing raw materials and we only use natural, certified ingredients that are produced in a sustainable and ethical way. We will continue to use organic ingredients in our products and choose to work with suppliers that share our values – respecting the earth, the people and organisms living on it.

When sourcing raw materials, they are always sustainable, ethical, cruelty-free and as locally sourced as possible
